What are the Practicalities?

Where does the counselling take place?

Counselling needs to take place in a safe evironment, without interruption or distraction. For many clients a neutral venue, away from the home, would be most appropriate.  I work from counselling rooms in Lancaster and Kendal. If it is not possible for you to attend one of these centres, I may be able to arrange to visit you in your home.

What are my working hours?

I can be flexible and am able to offer appointments, daytimes, and evenings. In addition, I can also offer email counselling, should our work together be interrupted for unavoidable reasons.

What does it cost?

The first meeting is FREE. This is a chance for you to find out if counselling is right for you, and for us both to decide whether we want to work together. This session normally lasts about 30-45 minutes.

After this, my fees are £35 per one hour session, in my counselling rooms, but I also offer a limited number of subsidised places, depending on your financial circumstances. If we arrange a domicilliary visit, there may be a surcharge for this. Ongoing sessions will usually be held weekly, and last for 1 hour. I charge for all contracted sessions which you do not attend. If I have to cancel a session, I will, wherever possible offer you an alternative appointment. If we cannot find a mutually convenient time, I will not charge a fee for that missed session.

How can I make contact?

You can either telephone or email me. If you telephone you are likely to get my answerphone. Please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as I can. If you email, please leave a phone number where I can ring you, and if possible state when I can phone. You will then be offered a FREE initial appointment, in which we can find out more about each other and explore how best to approach your difficulties. At the end of this assessment, you should be able to decide whether or not counselling is the right step for you and whether we can and want to work together.
